“Plastic World” depicts the journey of a young child being inspired to take climate action in their community.
The garbage inside these sculptures was collected at 3 local community clean-ups. Totalling more than 130 pounds of litter, 34 full bags, 183 plastic bottles, 177 aluminum cans, 103 plastic cups, & 111 fast food cup lids (among many more that we could not segment/count).
A couch, a microwave, dishware & terracotta vases, DVDs, shoes, glasses, a mouse trap, bike tires, and many other miscellaneous human-made waste and debris.
Collective problems require us to take collective action.

Process
October - December 2024
With the help of more than 20 dedicated volunteers, we cleaned, sorted, and processed the litter collected at our three clean-ups into a thought-provoking public art installation. Working out of Inter-Arts Matrix (a shared creative workspace) we came together to turn the ugliness of litter into something creative, inspiring, and beautiful. See below for process photos.
